Forza 5 Preview
Being a player of Forza for a very, very long time I think it's safe to say that I'm not very excited for this next version of Forza. Not because they slightly improved the graphics, not because it's for Xbox One; It's for the fact that Forza 5 claims to be a "cinematic automotive journey". These words describe Forza to be a very peaceful, uncompetitive game. This is exactly what Forza has started to edge itself to come to, but has denied any wording of itself being a full on peaceful beginner game. This all became evident in Forza 4, an award winning brilliant game, with basically no negative reviews. This is because it had options to ease beginners into playing Forza, without stressing those players too much because it had ridiculously difficult opponents. And it also had options for competitive Forza players who were very experienced with the racing game genre, and allowed them to endure a challenge. The description of the upcoming Forza 5 has no evidence of it being like that, which could show the brand slowly becoming a more relaxed company, releasing games that provide no challenge. I don't get why they would do this - they would lose so much of their target audience it's not worth it, and considering Microsoft and their attempts to single handedly change the market did not work well, it's strange if they want to try it here. The graphics do look absolutely astonishing though and considering it will be on the Xbox One. It does also say "thrill of racing" but it won't change people's fixed opinions about their first quote, and in fact "thrill of racing" is emphasised by the previous quote, making it seem like a "HARDCORE RELAXED GAME". I generally hope that they do the same that they did with Forza 4, just add a real story to it. Having a story to the game would make the game feel like it had emotion and character, and more like an actual game than a simulation. I know it seems like I'm asking for a lot but these are all almost necessary changes required for a successful game and It'd be stupid if Microsoft wouldn't and hadn't even considered introducing a story.
